Stamptember Blog Party

Hey all! I am so excited to be joining Simon Says Stamp with their Stamptember Blog Party!

Stamptember is always a thrilling event for the entire month over at Simon Says Stamp! There are tons of things to scavenge around the website to find, deals, freebies new stamp sets everyday!

I got to play with the Detail Elm Leaf Die, this one is so pretty! I cut it out with scraps of Arches Coldpress watercolour paper. (This stuff is to expensive to waste I keep all my scraps!) Using some of my Daniel Smith Watercolours I added a splash of watercolour onto the die cuts then layered them onto some grey cardstock. Adding a sentiment from the Hey Bestie stamp set.

Supplies:
Simon Says Stamp – Detail Elm Die
Simon Says Stamp – Hey Bestie
Arches Coldpress
Daniel Smith Quinacridone Purple
Daniel Smith Phthalo Turquoise

The Greeting Farm – August Previews Day 2

Welcome back to the second day of August Previews for The Greeting Farm.

Today we are sharing some adorable unicorns called Unicorn Dreams! Seriously, what is cuter then a unicorn eating icecream, I am really obsessed with that particular image from the set.

I pulled out my waterclours to paint this one up in some soft colours, adding a tree into the background to give them a little bit of a scene behind them. I have always enjoyed the contrast of the black stamped images to the no lines, free handed backgrounds. Something always feels dreamy about it to me.

Love Ewe

Hey everyone! Have you seen there is a new release over at Whimsy Stamps, and it is awesome as always!

I painted up the Love Ewe Sheep with my watercolour paints on Fabriano Artistico 140lbs hotpess watercolor paper.

I kept my colours very soft with this one, and am absolutely in love with how this card turned out! I cut the image panel down to 5.25″ x 4″ and added a little detail with a black multiliner.

Some things are not always as easy…

WC card

Wow, lets chat about this technique from the Watercolor For Cardmakers Class, Swarup Murthy taught this lesson, and boy what a lesson it was. I am semi pleased with the results. Would for sure skip the enamel dots when I attempt this again. But this lady makes it look ever so easy, and lets be honest, this was one of the most challenging lessons I had run into in this class. I will attempt it again, hopefully this weekend so be on the lookout for that.

There is a closer shot of the flower the lines you are seeing in the flowers are not the stamped line, they are actually dropped in with watercolour. I use a Windsor and Newton, compact Cotman watercolor pallet, on Canson 140lbs coldpress watercolour paper. The sentiment is from one of me flower sets from whimsy stamps, I believe it is on the Hibiscus and Lily set, but will have to check for sure.

Just a little swatching

So after being sick for a few days and not being up to doing much. I was in google hangouts last night with a friends who are also taking the watercolor for card makers . They were working on their swatches for the class, to see all the colours of their different mediums when they have been used with water. I jumped on board.

This is by no means all of the different things I have. I hope to finish the rest of my swatches today, aside from my gelatos, which are still on their way to me.

So these are all the samples/swatches they are done in canson watercolour paper that is the size of a card front ( 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 )

Here is my small collections on Twinkling H2o’s. I had to hunt for them as I forgot where I put them. Ha ha. Shows how often I used them.

Distress markers. I didn’t swatch out the white for, hopefully, obvious reason.

Derwent watercolour pencils.

These are my Derwent Inktense colours. I have them both in the pencils and the blocks. I will one day splurge and order the large set of the pencils. Oh how heavenly that would be.

Thanks for stopping by.
