Butterfly Card

butterfly

So, as lots of you know I have been playing catch up with the Watercolor For Cardmakers Class. It is fun, challenging, and irritating all at the same time. All I can tell you is I am sick of flowers… hence the butterfly.

butterfly 1

The circle is made with Gelato’s in some random colours, blue, pink, yellow, orange, grey, and purple. The butterfly stamp is a Martha Stewart one from 2009, and is stamped in Distress ink .

butterfly 2

I stamped the image with Dusty Concord, then watercolored in peacock feathers, and picked raspberry. The sentiment comes from the Handwritten Greetings set from Simon Says Stamp, and is stamped in Versa Fine Onyx Black. As usual my card base is Neenah Solar white 110 lbs cardstock cut to a standard A2 size card, the pink pannel is out of my scrap bin, so I am unsure of where it came from and is 4x 5 1/4, and the front with image is Canson 140lbs coldpress watercolor paper cut to 3 3/4 x 5.

Watercolor Card Class

Hey everyone. Sorry I have been missing life got in the way but I am back!

20140512-052113.jpg

So here is my first card from the class and I have a couple more on the go down in my craft room. I like the way this one turned out for the most part. If I was to do it again I wouldn’t add the solid colour panel.

Father’s day is coming! For a change, I am ahead of the game. (Don’t get use to it lol.) I have been having tons of fun playing with this set and doing some simple masculine cards, they always seem to be a challenge.

Really did keep this card super simple, inked through a stencil a little spray and jute and wood veneer.

April’s Favorites!

Its the first day of May! Woot woot, maybe the snow will finally stop in my part of the world. Wishful thinking!

So I am going to start a new little series here on this blog where on the first day of the new month I will post some of my favorite things I have used in the previous month. (Does that make sense? I sure hope so). Hopefully you enjoy these little posts with a few products I love, and maybe a couple that I figure were a huge waste of my hard earned money. Yes, I have those once in a while, maybe more often then I like to admit.

Favorite #1

I am taking the Watercolor for Cardmakers Class, which starts on May 5, 2014. So I bought myself a little treat for this class, the Cotman Watercolor Compact Set.

cotman

I love the colours in this set, and they paint so lovely. I have only played with them a little bit, so maybe making them a favorite is a bit premature, but I am sure you will see cards I make with this set throughout the month of May.

Favorite #2

I have raved about this stamp set for a long time, I regularly tell people that it should be a staple in every stampers collection. Its the Simon Says Stamp Lots of Dots Set.

Favorite #3

And my last favorite for the month of April, is something I have been saying they should make since I first fell in love with the distress inks. The Ranger mini ink blending tool.

Home Sweet Home

This evening, while watching Jen (ozegran) on ustream I made a little card to share with you all.

IMG_3993

Started with a little stamping, colouring, and fussy cutting. Unfortunately I don’t know what the name of this stamp set is, it came from CC Designs in their clearance section a while ago.

IMG_3994

Then I made a back round using distress ink.

Then I put all together. Blah, sorry about the lighting. The unfortunate part of taking photo’s at 11 at night.

Mom, I love you

Mother’s Day is coming… so I made a Mother’s Day card.

Mom

I think it is rather lovely, pretty, fuzzy circles.

Mom A

Okay, I had trouble getting this picture. It’s snowing at the end of April! So it is slightly out of focus but not as much as you would think. The circles were stamped then went over with water to make them wick out.

Neenah Solar White 110lbs Carstock

Ranger Watercolour Paper

Tim Holtz Water Brush

Distress ink: Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves, Mustard Seed

Birthday Card Challenge

This weeks challenge is to make a birthday card, but there is a twist… *insert dramatic pause here* The card should be able to be used for both males and females.

Well here is mine.

Make a wish

This is done on watercolour paper, I am still unsure if I like the card or not. But you never get better if you don’t try!

Make a wish A

DSC_0201

There are a couple of close ups, it really was fast once I had the colours ready. Slopped it on, didn’t blend, but all in all it was fun.

Supplies:

Ranger Watercolour Paper

Lawn Fawn Stamp: Cruising Through Life

Simon Says Stamp, Stamp set, Handwritten Greeting

Inktense Blocks

Tim Holtz water brush

Neenah Solar White 110lbs cardstock

Versafine Onyx Black

Just a little swatching

So after being sick for a few days and not being up to doing much. I was in google hangouts last night with a friends who are also taking the watercolor for card makers . They were working on their swatches for the class, to see all the colours of their different mediums when they have been used with water. I jumped on board.

This is by no means all of the different things I have. I hope to finish the rest of my swatches today, aside from my gelatos, which are still on their way to me.

20140427-073647.jpg

So these are all the samples/swatches they are done in canson watercolour paper that is the size of a card front ( 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 )

20140427-073854.jpg

Here is my small collections on Twinkling H2o’s. I had to hunt for them as I forgot where I put them. Ha ha. Shows how often I used them.

20140427-074528.jpg

Distress markers. I didn’t swatch out the white for, hopefully, obvious reason.

20140427-074623.jpg

Derwent watercolour pencils.

20140427-074702.jpg

These are my Derwent Inktense colours. I have them both in the pencils and the blocks. I will one day splurge and order the large set of the pencils. Oh how heavenly that would be.

Thanks for stopping by.

Yet to come..

More watercolour, yes it has become an obsession. What can I say when I love something I kinda run with it.

The best

The lighting in this card isn’t great, and I apologize for that, unfortunately the colour’s coming in through the window just weren’t quite right. Anyway. onto the card, I again used Heidi Swapp colour shine to make this card, Blush, Mint Green, and White are the colours I used. The stamps are from Simon Says Stamp, Love Languages, and Tilted Banner Stamp’s and dies. The Polaroid Frame is a die from The Greeting Farm.

The Best b

The Ink used to stamp the hand image, and the sentiment is Crumb Cake from Stampin up. The white enamel dots are from My Minds Eye, and the others are from Basic Grey.

The Best c

Laces and trims are as usual from my stash, as well as the vellum with the tiny hearts in the back round. I probably bought it all from a garage sale somewhere.

Thanks for looking.

Regular Joe

Here is another card, again inspired from the same layout as the last card from, my friend, Sarah.

This one was tons of fun, using a Stampin up set from back in 2002.

Birthday card 3

The back round of this card is made using Heidi Swapp colour shine in teal and white, also Lindy’s stamp Gang Down the rabbit hole, and Sandra Dee Sepia.

The image is from the Stampin up set, I think it is called Express Yourself, but that could be wrong. The behind the coffee cup is cheese cloth I sprayed with the Lindy’s sprays, the paper is reccollections paper from Michael’s and behind it is Recycled Sari Silk Ribbon. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp, and the tag is actually is a ticket die from Memory Box that I cut the one side flat on.

Birthday card 3a

Birthday card 3b

A close up of the coffee cup stamped with Archival Ink in Potting Soil, and coloured with Prisma Colour Pencils.

Birthday Card 3cinside

The inside of the card I stamped the sentiment and some more of the bean’s both from that Stampin Up set, and added a little bit of the same colours of sprays in a water colour fashion inside.

Tomorrow I will have this weeks card Challenge up with a link up tool for you to add your cards!

Thanks for looking
